Welcome to the 12th International Cancer Conference – Featuring Dr. Weam Eltoum

Dr. Weam Eltoum to Present on Cervical Carcinosarcoma at ICTO 2026

Cervical Carcinosarcoma: Understanding a Rare and Aggressive Tumour

Featured Presentation at the 12th International Cancer, Oncology & Therapy Conference & Exhibition

The 12th International Cancer, Oncology & Therapy Conference & Exhibition continues to bring together leading experts to address complex and rare oncologic conditions. Among this year’s distinguished speakers is Dr. Weam Mohamed Ahmed Eltoum, Consultant Histopathologist at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom, who will present on:

“Cervical Carcinosarcoma: A Rare Aggressive Tumour”

About the Speaker

Dr. Weam Eltoum is a UK-based Consultant Histopathologist who completed her specialist histopathology training in the North West of England, earning her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) before her consultant appointment at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Her diagnostic and research interests focus on gynaecological and gastrointestinal pathology, with particular emphasis on challenging and rare malignancies.

She collaborates closely with Dr. Rajagopal Saravana, Consultant Histopathologist and Gynaecological Lead at the same institution, who also serves as the Lead Histopathologist for the NHS Cervical Screening Programme. Their combined expertise strengthens multidisciplinary evaluation of complex cervical pathologies and contributes to improved diagnostic accuracy within national screening frameworks.

Spotlight on Cervical Carcinosarcoma

Cervical carcinosarcoma is an exceptionally rare and highly aggressive malignancy characterized by the presence of both epithelial (carcinomatous) and mesenchymal (sarcomatous) components. Due to its rarity, it presents significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Why This Topic Matters

  • Limited Case Data: The scarcity of reported cases makes evidence-based management difficult.

  • Diagnostic Complexity: Histopathological differentiation from other high-grade cervical tumours requires meticulous examination and immunohistochemical correlation.

  • Aggressive Clinical Course: These tumours are often associated with rapid progression and poorer prognosis compared to more common cervical malignancies.

  • Need for Awareness: Early recognition can directly influence treatment planning and patient outcomes.

Histopathology at the Center of Precision Oncology

Dr. Eltoum’s session emphasizes the critical role of histopathology in identifying rare tumour subtypes, guiding oncologists toward appropriate multimodal management strategies. Accurate tissue diagnosis remains foundational to:

  • Differentiating carcinosarcoma from poorly differentiated carcinoma

  • Informing surgical and oncologic decision-making

  • Supporting individualized treatment pathways

  • Contributing to national and international case registries for rare cancers

Advancing Collaborative Cancer Care

This presentation highlights the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between histopathologists, oncologists, surgeons, and screening programs. Insights from institutions such as Stockport NHS Foundation Trust demonstrate how integrated diagnostic expertise strengthens early detection systems like the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.

What Attendees Will Gain

Participants attending this session can expect to:

✔ Gain awareness of a rare but clinically significant cervical malignancy

✔ Understand key histopathological features and diagnostic pitfalls

✔ Explore the role of pathology in guiding treatment strategies

✔ Learn how collaborative practice improves outcomes in rare cancers

✔ Engage in discussions that bridge diagnostic science and clinical oncology

Join the Conversation in Oncology Innovation

The 12th International Cancer, Oncology & Therapy Conference & Exhibition serves as a global platform for sharing knowledge, advancing research, and addressing the complexities of cancer care—from common malignancies to rare pathological entities like cervical carcinosarcoma.

By bringing together experts such as Dr. Weam Eltoum and Dr. Rajagopal Saravana, the conference reinforces its mission to translate diagnostic precision into better patient outcomes worldwide.
