Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Akanksha Pandey at the 12th International Cancer, Oncology & Therapy Conference 2026

The 12th International Cancer, Oncology & Therapy Conference 2026 (CANCERUCG 2026) is set to bring together leading oncologists, pathologists, clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the world to discuss the latest developments in cancer research, diagnosis, and therapeutic advancements. Scheduled to take place April 09–11, 2026, in Dubai, UAE, the conference will provide a global platform for scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation in oncology and related medical fields.

Among the distinguished speakers participating in this prestigious event is Dr. Akanksha Pandey, an accomplished academician and pathologist from Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Varanasi, India. Dr. Pandey will be presenting a compelling case study titled “A Rare Case of Placental Chorioangioma with No Fetal Cardiac Complications.” Her presentation will shed light on an uncommon clinical scenario that contributes to a deeper understanding of placental pathology and its potential implications for maternal and fetal health.

Understanding Placental Chorioangioma

Placental chorioangioma is considered the most common benign tumor of the placenta, although it remains relatively rare in clinical practice. These tumors originate from the vascular tissue of the placenta and are often discovered incidentally during routine prenatal examinations or after delivery through pathological analysis.

While many small chorioangiomas remain asymptomatic and do not affect pregnancy outcomes, larger tumors can sometimes lead to significant complications. In certain cases, they may contribute to fetal anemia, hydrops fetalis, polyhydramnios, and fetal cardiac overload, which can adversely affect the health of both the mother and the fetus. Because of these potential complications, early detection and accurate diagnosis are essential for effective clinical management.

Dr. Pandey’s research focuses on a rare presentation of placental chorioangioma where no fetal cardiac complications were observed, making it an important contribution to medical literature. The case highlights the complexity of placental tumors and emphasizes the need for careful pathological evaluation and multidisciplinary clinical assessment. Through detailed histopathological examination and clinical correlation, the study provides valuable insights into the natural progression and clinical significance of this rare condition.

Clinical and Research Significance

Case studies like the one presented by Dr. Pandey are particularly valuable in the field of pathology and oncology-related research, as they expand the collective understanding of rare conditions and their outcomes. Even though placental tumors are not directly related to oncology in the traditional sense, their cellular growth patterns, vascular characteristics, and diagnostic evaluation often intersect with broader pathological research, including tumor biology and molecular diagnostics.

By sharing this case with the global medical community, Dr. Pandey contributes to improved diagnostic awareness and encourages clinicians and researchers to consider a broader spectrum of possibilities when evaluating placental abnormalities. Such insights can help refine prenatal diagnostic techniques, pathological classification, and patient management strategies, ultimately improving healthcare outcomes.

About Dr. Akanksha Pandey

Dr. Akanksha Pandey is a dedicated medical professional and researcher with a strong academic background in pathology. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Pondicherry University in 2012, after which she pursued her specialization in pathology. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Pathology in 2019 from Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University, Navi Mumbai.

Currently, Dr. Pandey serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Varanasi, India. In this role, she actively contributes to medical education, diagnostic pathology, and clinical research, mentoring students while also engaging in scholarly work that advances the understanding of pathological diseases.

Dr. Pandey has authored more than five research publications in national and international journals, demonstrating her commitment to scientific inquiry and evidence-based medicine. Her academic work reflects a strong focus on onychopathology, which involves the microscopic and molecular study of tumors and cancer-related diseases.

In addition to onychopathology, she has developed specialized interests in gastrointestinal (GI) pathology and molecular pathology. These areas are increasingly important in modern medicine, as molecular diagnostics and genetic profiling are transforming the way cancers are detected, classified, and treated. By integrating traditional histopathological methods with advanced molecular techniques, pathologists like Dr. Pandey are helping to pave the way for precision medicine and personalized treatment approaches.

Contribution to the Global Oncology Community

The 12th International Cancer, Oncology & Therapy Conference 2026 serves as a vital platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and groundbreaking research in oncology and related medical sciences. The conference will feature keynote lectures, scientific sessions, poster presentations, and panel discussions addressing critical topics such as cancer diagnosis, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, molecular oncology, and emerging treatment technologies.

Speakers like Dr. Pandey play a crucial role in enriching the scientific program by presenting unique case studies and research findings that broaden the collective knowledge of the global medical community.
